1993 940 turbo - no spark

Postby allantetoy » Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:54 pm

My '93 came home the other night running fine. Next morning - no start. It started out with no fuel. Now has fuel to engine, but now no spark.
The only thing I did was change the fuel pump and filter. What in the world could I have done to cause the no spark condition?

Do you know if there are any codes in the ECU? You can check them yourself by pulling them from the little black box. There is also a how-to in the FWD section.

Code for Mode 1 shows "No Fault". Mod 2 is a constant flash.
I have no power at the coil. Since it appears that the Power Stage is between the DLC and the coil - could my problem be with the power stage?

A2 contently flashed? That is not a good thing.

Your ECU may have gone bad on you.

Lucked up and found a used ECU. What happens when you install another ECU, check codes first (normal), and then after trying to start, Mode 2 starts a constant flash again (still no spark)?

If you know that the used ECU is a know good one, There could be a short in the ignition system that is causing the ECU to short out. If you disconnect the battery for awhile and then just put the car in on without starting it, does A2 show no codes again?
