Sunroof Switch Replacement

Postby jeffdowns » Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:15 pm

I just bought a 2000 Volvo S 80. The previous owner had nobody but the volvo dealership do repairs and maintenance on it. He had a problem with the sunroof not working all the time. They replaced the switch but that didn't appear to help. I want to replace the switch myself if possible. It is partially open and I travel lots so I need it open. Can anyone advise me on how to replace the switch or suggest how I might get this to work properly?
This is what I have done so far:
1. Checked the fuses. All are alright.
2. disconnected battery for about an hour to permit it to reset. Nothing.
3. prayed!

OK. So I figured out how to replace the switch. Still nothing. Fuses checked out ok.
Any suggestions on how I can get it to close?
Thanks

I am away from my bibles but could it be the motor mechanism that is borked?

Take the headliner out and check to see if power is going to the motor... See if the motor is dead.
